Menu Plan Monday 12/12/11

Apparently, I'm in the mood for comfort food this week.  I hadn't really thought about that until I started listing the meals I had planned... this is definitely a cold-weather menu!
  • MONDAY: DH's birthday- his choice: hamburgers, potato salad, deviled eggs, sweet-hot pickles, chocolate cake, Oreo ice cream
  • TUESDAY:  crockpot french dip sandwiches (trying an envelope of seasoning I picked up at the store rather than homemade this time), tossed salad, baked fries
  • WEDNESDAY:  chicken, pasta, and veggies cooked with Philadelphia Cooking Cream- Santa Fe Flavor  (No affiliation or promotion there- I just love that stuff!)
  • THURSDAY: family favorite: Southern Fried Pork Chops with Creamy Pan Gravy, green beans, mashed potatoes
  • FRIDAY:  Mexican... something with ground beef.  Most likely enchiladas, but possibly tacos.  Either one with corn, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, etc.
  • SATURDAY:  homemade pizza

Recent Reads: Baby's Little Bible

I recently had the opportunity to review Baby's Little Bible from Kregel Publishing.  I wasn't sure what to expect, as my experience has been that many Bible story books aimed at small children are thin and too wordy.  I was pleasantly surprised.  Baby's Little Bible is the perfect size for reading while in your lap while holding a squirmy baby.  It has a padded cover, cheerful illustrations, and classic Bible stories told in simple language.
From the Publisher: "Baby's Little Bible was written by new mom Sarah Toulmin as a way of sharing the stories she so loved with her own little ones. Her ultra-simple retellings of twenty favorite stories, from Creation to Resurrection, are filled with a sense of wonder, expressing God's love for creation. Featuring Kristina Stephenson’s heartwarming, baby-friendly illustrations, this little Bible offers lots to look at and point to while parent and child share this delightful book together."
This is the kind of book that parents will enjoy reading to their young children. I think it would be a great gift for a newborn or a Baptism.

I received the "Boy" edition of this book for free from Kregel Publishing in exchange for my honest review.  You can pre-order your own copy in a boxed set (along with Baby's Little Prayer Book, also by Sarah Toulmin)  from Amazon.
