I love this new version of Works For Me Wednesday-- the backwards edition. The first Wednesday of each month we get to ASK for tips on something instead of sharing our own tips. What fun!
I'm going to put myself out here and confess that there are a few things that I simply can't figure out in Blogger. I've been using it for months, and I feel like I know it pretty well-- I've tweaked templates and figured out the basics of HTML, but there are still a few things I haven't figured out. (I did figure out how to make my own button and post the code for it over on my new meme Sunday Scrappin'-- go check it out, and if you'd pretend to be impressed I'd appreciate it!)
There are probably simple solutions to these, but hey, humor me, will you? My ego can't take too much-- I like to feel like I know what I'm doing with this bloggy stuff. But, anyways, here are my questions:
- How do I change the "comments" line at the bottom of each post? I've noticed several Blogger blogs that have different text where mine just reads as the current number of comments. I'd like for it to say something other than "2 comments" on the link where people click to leave a comment.
- How do I add tabs or additional pages to this blog? Do I have to host it elsewhere? At first I thought it was only Wordpress blogs that could do this, but I've seen some with blogspot addresses that have several tabbed pages.
- Is there anything about this blog, or my cooking blog, that's hard to read on your screen? I was shocked the first time I viewed this page on my husband's laptop-- it looks fine on my desktop computer, but on his laptop, the colors are terrible and the header is too wide for the screen. I'm hoping most people see it the way I do!
Ok, I think that covers my main questions. If you have any other great Blogger pointers, feel free to share those in the comment section, too-- thanks!

I can help with your comment label question.
ReplyDeleteOn your dashboard there is a link to Manage:Layout, use it.
When you get to your layout, look at the section named Blog Post and click the link to Edit.
A window named Configure Blog Post comes up and there is a choice labeled comments. Change the text box from "comments" to what ever you want it to say.
Make sure you save the change before closing the window.
Now for a question for you.
I would love to know how to make a button for the sidebar. I can make one using a photo from my own collection, but I would like to make one using a graphic instead of a photo. Any hints?
Your blog looks great to me!
Have a great week.
Since I'm so new to this blogging thing (and I use WordPress), I can't help you at all. However, I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog, and I am heading over to your meme page because I am a scrapper, too!
ReplyDeleteLooks fine on my screen. ;)
ReplyDeleteI joined Blogger just because it was there, I wish I had done more research first. It is so limited! Luckily my SIL is a web designer, and she's helping me build my own URL.
Just wanted to say that your page looks great on my laptop. And it's a mustardy yellow color. Is that the color it's supposed to be? The header and everything lay just fine.
