Inauguration Day

He wasn't my choice, but today Barack Obama becomes our President. I don't have to agree with him to respect him and his new office. I pray that he will be a good leader and will make positive changes for our country.

Politics aside, I am always fascinated by the pageantry and the ceremonies that go on with events like this. Can you imagine being a part of the White House staff, having five or six hours to transfer everything over to the new first family? I'll try to watch his swearing-in and speech before I get my daughter to the bus stop.... hopefully he's not long-winded, or we might miss the bus! :) What about you... are you watching?

  1. I agree with you, and I did watch parts of it.
I was surprised by my overwhelming emotions. I cried. I watched in disbelief. I AM hopeful.
I'm hopeful that prayer will change Obama, and I hope he does not undo all Bush did in the last 8 years.

Here we are, a new year and a new beginning. I'm wondering what tomorrow will bring.

  2. In all my 21 years of teaching, I've never felt forced to watch an inauguration, until today.

  3. Even if we did not vote for him, the meaning of the ceremony and the fact that we have the freedom to peaceably choose and swear in a new leader is an awesome thing. It's a celebration of all that is great about our country.

He wasn't my vote either, but he will have my prayers and hear my voice as he leads the country.
