The Choice is Clear for Catholics

There are two things in this world that really get me fired up:  politics and diabetes.  I can, and do, go on at length when either of those topics comes up.   I'm fairly certain that I'm one of "those" people that others block from their Facebook feeds during political seasons.

Here's the thing that's bugging me right now:  how can so many of my Christian friends support a President who so clearly does not support our values?  And don't even get me started on Joe "practicing Catholic" Biden's remarks from last week...

CatholicVote.org has broken down a list of issues that are important to Catholics (and really, all Christians) HERE.   There's even a nice printable PDF with a quick breakdown of the issues that you can print to share with others.

For anyone who is true to their faith, the choice is clear:  Romney is the pro-life, anti-HHS mandate, pro religious freedom, not-apologizing-for-our-country candidate!

  1. Well THIS Catholic with a child with Type 1 Diabetes is more interested in preserving health insurance that does not allow denial of benefits because of pre-existing benefits, keeping our Type 1 child on our health insurance until she is 26 and making sure people who can't afford medical care can get coverage. Only I want to go much further than Obama care (which really should be called Mitch Romney care since he instituted the same program in Massachusetts). Can you sense the hypocrisy? I sure can. I want national health care so Type 1 adults don't have to choose between insulin or food. Some can afford neither. It is vitally important for all parents who have children with health issues to vote for Obama. And if the government can pay for Viagra, it sure as heck can pay for contraception for woman. And if a woman wants an abortion, Catholic though I am, I am not going to force my beliefs down another's throat. I strongly believe in separation of church and state. For many reasons Romney is not the candidate I can support.

  2. It's time to make our voices heard.

Rallies against the HHS mandate will take place in more than 140 cities around the nation on Saturday, October 20.

This could be a very close election. Let's get the message out!

  3. Dear Anonymous, I respect your opinion but I do not agree. I have been told for a fact that my family will lose our health insurance if the current provisions in Obamacare take effect-- and I have to worry about right here and right now, in terms of caring for my Type I child, before I can get around to worrying about what we'll do when she'd 26. And on the topic of abortion, I can never understand that argument, and I've had it with people for 20+ years. If we went by the "I believe this is wrong but other people don't" theory, our prisons would be empty, because I'm sure there are people out there who believe that killing, robbing, and raping are all OK, and we wouldn't want to push "our" beliefs on the folks who have done those things, right?
