My word for the year

I've seen this done on several blogs, and at first I thought it was kind of silly, but the concept has grown on me. People choose a word for the year, and try to really work that concept into their lives. I didn't set out to consciously pick a word, but as this month has progessed, one word has been coming up for me repeatedly. SIMPLIFY.

Some things I've been pondering: Do I really need to run to three stores to find the best deal, or can I just go to one store and make fewer purchases? Do I actually have to make everyone handmade cards (my original goal for the year), or am I better off to use some boxed cards and not stress about getting it done on time? Does my family really suffer if I use time-saving heat-and-eat meals (bought on sale) once or twice a week, rather than cooking from scratch daily? Of course the answers to all of these are obvious now, but these are the things I'm thinking about, and trying to change.

It's no wonder I suffer from insomnia sometimes... I am stressing myself out! I'm finding that when I simplify things, I feel more relaxed.

Simplify. It's my word for the year. What's yours?

  2. Hey. Of course you have to make meals from scratch, you have to make everyone homemade cards and yes running to several stores with kids in tow is a must do. Of course I am just kidding, I think of how many times I have been told "oh your just a mom" or "all you do is stay home all day and do nothing" so of course I have time for all the above what homemaker wouldn't (I really don't like the SAHM term-makes it seem like I am at home all the time)? So for anyone reading this and thinks all we do all day is stay at home, think again, for me being a mom has been the hardest job, trying to balance taking care of the children, housework, school, errands, among other things-trust me some times there just isn't time for anything else, well unless I cut out sleep. Okay end of rant Sorry Amy.
    God bless.

  3. Simplify is a great word to incorporate. It seems nowadays that we keep our selves going full force until we break down. We need to remember to take care of ourselves. :0)
