Spring Reading Thing: One for the Money

by Janet Evanovich

my rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stephanie Plum is desperate for a job, any job, and she winds up working for her cousin as an amateur bounty hunter. Hunting down criminals is one adventure after another, especially when it turns out that the big case she's assigned is a man from her past... and he's keeping tabs on her, as well. This is a tale of crime and murder, but it's light reading, as it's missing the detailed blood and guts that we're accustomed to on TV these days.

This was a quick read- I finished it in two evenings. A friend loaned me this book and promised I'd enjoy it- she was right! I'll probably read the rest of the series eventually.

  1. Amy - I wanted to come over and comment back from your comments on my blog! I ABSOLUTELY think that a $5 gift card and a hand-written card (maybe even hand-made, since I know you like doing that type of thing) goes so much further to show your appreciation than a fake flower arrangement...or anything else for that matter! Honestly, my favorite thing is reading the nice things that parents have to say...it makes it all worthwhile!

  2. By the way, we got the edging bricks for $1.27 each at Home Depot. We saw some plain old bricks that we could have gotten for like $.38 each, but we liked the scalloped edge & we needed something taller in order to hold the mulch in, since our land on the one side is at a bit of a slope.

Your garden looks great, as well & it does look just like mine! Did you start your tomatoes & peppers from seeds? I planted seeds of both of those in seed-planters inside earlier in the spring & I had absolutely no luck with either of them sprouting, so my tomatoes are from plants. I need to go out and get another tomato plant for my Topsy Turvy & I want some cucumbers & spinach as well (plus my dad got me some onion sets to plant) :) We'll have a whole salad in no time! Can't wait to hear more about your garden progress!
