Spring Reading Thing

Katrina over at Callapidder Days is hosting the "Spring Reading Thing". Check out her site for more details... basically you make a list of books you want to read this Spring, and then you go check out everyone elses' lists. (I'm sure I'll be adding to my list as I read more of others' lists!)

I LOVE to read. As a kid, I'd get in trouble for reading when I should have been cleaning my room. In school, I could read faster than most of the other kids. Even after college, pre-kids, I still read a lot... I'd easily read a book in two or three evenings. These days, though, I'm just happy to find time to read books that don't contain Dora the Explorer or other animated creatures. :)

On my to-read list:
  • Catholicism for Dummies (just got this from the library, it looks good)
  • A Song I Knew By Heart by Bret Lott (just got this from the library, loved the last book I read by this author)
  • When the Heart Cries (Sisters of the Quilt) by Cindy Woodsmall
  • Why Do Catholics Do That? by Kevin Orlin Johnson (I recently received this one from PaperBackSwap.)
  • The Notebook (My sister gave me this one a while back.)
  • and a book with stories about Saint Therese... the title escapes me right now.

If you need to add to your list, the last fiction book I read was Jewel by Bret Lott, and I'd recommend it. It's the story of a family's struggles to raise a child with Down's Syndrome in a poor area in the 1940's. It was a very moving story that brought me to tears on more than one occasion.

I'm sure I'll read a lot more than that, but that's the list I have for now!

  1. Sounds a lot like me. I used to read like crazy, and then got distracted, but now I make an effort. Challenges like this help.

  3. I used to get in trouble for reading, too -- I'd always be trying to sneak a book to the dinner table, which was not allowed! :) Thanks for joining the Spring Reading Thing. Enjoy your books!
